Building Earthquake-Resistant Structures

Materials

  • a piece of styrofoam, measuring roughly 8in x 8in (2 per group)
  • 1 ruler
  • 1 vortex mixer (ask a biologist…)

For “stone” construction

  •  peanut butter
  • 1 box of sugar cubes

For “wood” construction

  • 1 generous handful of popsicle sticks
  • 1 blocks of modeling clay
  • scotch tape

For “steel” construction

  • handful of pipe cleaners
